Week # 126(2yrs5mos2wks): “Stormy Monday” Open Blues(R&B) Jam at Sam’s Town Point Feb 8
February 8th, 2010
READ THIS: It’s a Jam so it’s a song consensus among the players on stage at the time. It’s a Jam, not a band or personal showcase(See Open Mic below). We’re not asking you to be a ”pro” but, please, this is not “American Idol”. Learn your instrument then come learn to jam.
We don’t mind helping someone who is learning how to jam with others but who will take direction (tune it up–know the key—turn it down–listen to the band, etc) . Think about how many songs you want to do before you do endless soloing. Not everyone has to solo on every song. Then the group may end up doing only two songs. Share the vocals if there are two singers. Don’t blow the audience out the doors. Volume doesn’t make it better, only louder. Do not hop up onstage without talking to me first.
PLEASE READ: SIGN UP SHEET NEAR THE DOOR. First signed up, first served. Find me, Breck, or a house band member, when you come in. Bring what you need to play(a guitar and an amp?). The house band will open the jam up with a few songs.
IN HOUSE EQUIPMENT: Drums, PA w/speakers, mics, bass amp & guitar, CASIO PX-400R DIGITAL PIANO w/ 88 Full Size Keys (one plastic pedal; Bring your own pedals and amp if you prefer-or hook to PA).
HOUSE BAND this Monday: Jeff Grant on guitar/vocals, Jack Funn on bass, Dick Ross on drums.
SINGER-SONGWRITERS/DUO’S/BANDS:If you want your own stage time alone then Tuesday night is OPEN MIC with Mike Welch and Ross Stone–now the Open Mic hosts–and with their technical expertise they will make you sound good. Come check it out. 8:30pm.
Sam’s: 282-0083. 2115 Allred Dr. 78748(In the woods across from HEB center @ Manchaca & Slaughter. South @light @McDonalds on Slaughter. First left (fire station on left). “Up around the bend”;club on right.) Go slow–watch for deer(I’m not kidding). Google the address for map.
