Week#42: “The Eagle Flies On Friday” Jam

at Sam’s Town Point on Friday, May 7, 2010   
Every Friday.  8:35-11:57.  Open Jam–Mostly 60/70’s but I never know.  The best “Classical Gas” Classic Rock Jam in Austin.    Even if you or friends are not jamming we appreciate your attendance. 
 
Notes: “Stormy Monday” blues jam has moved to Wed’s for the “Sloppy Wednesdays” blues jam.  BlueBlazes–Jeff Grant(vocals/guitar, Dick Ross(drums), Jack Funn(bass), w/Kevin Cheney(vocals/harmonica/flute)–will be playing Sat, May 8 from 9pm to 1am.   Blues, R&B, maybe some Tull/Zeppelin.  It’s a birthday celebration for Mary as well.
Sam’s will also begin Karaoke on every other Monday–call club for dates/times if interested.
 
It’s a Jam so it’s a song consensus among the players on stage at the time.  It’s a Jam, not a personal showcase (See Open Mic below).    PLEASE READ: SIGN UP SHEET NEAR THE DOOR.  First signed up, first served.   Bring what you need to play(a guitar and an amp?).  Leave your amp in the vehicle if you want but be prepared to bring it in if needed.  Amps may be shared by the graciousness of others but guitars are as personal as a toothbrush. 
IN HOUSE EQUIPMENT: Drums, PA w/speakers, mics, bass amp & guitar, Casio PX-400R Digital Piano w/ 88 Full Size Keys.

HOUSE BAND this Friday:  Jeff Grant on guitar/vocals, Nykky Dante on bass/keys/vocals, and  Dick Ross on drums & chicken.

 

SINGER-SONGWRITERS/DUO’S/BANDS: If you want your own stage time alone then Tuesday night is OPEN MIC with Mike Welch and Ross Stone–now the Tuesday Open Mic hosts–and with their technical expertise they will make you sound good. Come check it out. 8:30pm.

NO COVER. Smoking permitted. No cigarette machine in club.  Beer/wine/soft drinks/set-ups available.  Bring your own liquor.
FOOD INFO: Kitchen not open at present.  Bring what you want, have something ordered in, or wait to see if the pizza guy wanders in.
