Week # 133: “Stormy Monday” Open Blues(R&B) Jam at Sam’s Town Point

Monday, March 29th, 2010
 March 29. 8:35-11:57  Every Monday.
Keep it bluesy or a derivative thereof.   We welcome more drummers and bass players who want to join the jam. 
   READ THIS:  It’s a Jam so it’s a song consensus among the players on stage at the time.  It’s a Jam, not a band or personal showcase(See Open Mic below).  We’re not asking you to be a ”pro” but learn your instrument then come learn to jam.  We don’t mind helping someone who is learning how to jam with others but who will take direction (know the key—turn  it down–listen to the band, etc) .    Don’t blow the audience out the doors.  Volume doesn’t make it better, only louder.  Do not hop up onstage without talking to me first.

 

PLEASE READ: SIGN UP SHEET NEAR THE DOOR. First signed up, first served.  Find me, Breck, or a house band member, when you come in. If you show up past 10:30 you may or may not play depending on how many have signed up ahead of you. Bring what you need to play(a guitar and an amp?). Leave your amp in the vehicle if you want but be prepared to bring it in if needed. Amps may be shared by the graciousness of others but guitars are as personal as a toothbrush.  The house band will open the jam up with a few songs.

 IN HOUSE EQUIPMENT: Drums, PA w/speakers, mics, bass amp & guitar, CASIO PX-400R DIGITAL PIANO w/ 88 Full Size Keys.

Blue Blazes At Sam’s Town Point @6pm tonight!   Blues Blazes is Jose Ruiz(tonight) on harmonica, Jack Funn on bass, Jeff Grant on guitar/vocals, and Dick Ross on drums.   In addition to playing many gigs around town collectively and separately, you may also know them as the Sam’s Town Point House Band each  Monday with Jose joining in frequently for the “Stormy Monday” Blues Jam.  Come out and kick off SXSTP with the Blue Blazes.   Followed by Ramsay Midwood and at least one other band.   Stick around for four days of music!

Week#36: “The Eagle Flies On Friday” Jam at Sam’s Town Point on Friday, Mar 12, ‘10

Friday, March 12th, 2010
Every Friday.  8:35-11:57   Open Jam(except rap/metal/grunge).   The best Classic Rock Jam.  That said, I never know who-with-what instrument will walk in the door.  See “rules” and club info in previous postings.

NO JAM FRIDAY MARCH 19-SXSTP INSTEAD.  SXSTP: Check out www.austin-network.com .

This Friday special guests: Some Americana Honky Tonk guys will do Honky Tonk Drinking songs. They are pretty funny.

Think Bonzo Dog Band meets Bob Wills.  They should be onstage between 9:30 and 10pm and do 4 or 5 short songs.

 HOUSE BAND this Friday:  Jeff Grant on guitar/vocals, Nykky Dante on bass/keys/vocals, and our house drummer for this Friday, Ray Carpenter.

Week#35: “The Eagle Flies On Friday” Jam at Sam’s Town Point on Friday, Mar 5

 Every Friday.  8:35-11:57   Open Jam–open genre(except rap/metal/grunge).   Usually a lot of classic rock and blues are played but you never know.    Depends on who with what instrument walks in the door.  And if you know him–it’s Eddy’s birthday–81 years youngCome see the Leg Hound Ladies Man himself (Eddy) burning up the dance floor!
